It’s working!
Pubblicato: 23 marzo 2020 Archiviato in: uncategorized 51 commenti500 patients in northern Italian hospitals are receiving right now respirators, produced by hacked scuba gear that was shipped by Decathlon! This is incredibly cool. Big hugs to Isinnova and their team, Massimo Temporelli, Fablab Milano and all the people involved in this! Big time respect. This is the second successful project after replacing the missing pieces of existing ICU ventilators last week. On the Isinnova website, anybody can connect and learn how to follow the same practice in their own country. This virus is incredibly fast moving, so we need to move faster.

Che dire…. Grandi 💪🌈😍
Fantastic. Big up from South Africa, we are with you guys. Be strong, Italy!
is it this adapter open source ? we may need it here in Romania as well…

Check this out, we are scaling the project now https://dgiluz.wordpress.com/2020/03/27/an-army-of-italian-3d-makers-is-building-10-000-respirators-from-snorkeling-masks-right-now/
ICU physician here. Would it be possible to contact the team that put this together for details, so we can get a similar thing going here? If so, please, please contact me via e-mail provided! Thank You lots!
https://www.corovent.eu/ this ventilator is nearly complete and team is working on Eu and Uk certification,
from what I know, the mask itself is sold normally in Decathlon shops for recreation diving.
they probably has schematics for 3d printing the connection exaust for mechanic respirators. That’s the ‘thing’ here.
Here are the specs https://www.isinnova.it/easy-covid19/

Roman you can find all the info here: https://www.isinnova.it/easy-covid19-eng/
yes, contact ISINNOVA https://www.isinnova.it/
how about linking the procedure so other can replicate ?
look like ventilators is not really complicated and it’s just patent law that allow for gauging…
Claude here you can find instructions and contact them https://www.isinnova.it/easy-covid19-eng/
Doh! sorry, didn’t notice the actual link ! DIY respirator… nevermind
No problem, the story is evolving now https://twitter.com/dgiluz/status/1243534749487988737
That just looks like a respirator, not a ventilator.
A “ventilator” has the tubes going doing in the lungs for force air in and out for a patient physically unable to breathe. A “respirator” simply controls what gasses are delivered to the breathing orifices of a patient who can still breathe on their own.
thanks for the comment, i’m not a doctor, i’ll correct it
YES … a true ‘ventialtor’ would have the patient intubated … but THIS is much more than a simple oxygen mask … it adapts the ‘sealed to the face’ snorkelling mask, into a ‘positive pressure ventilator mask’ … a ‘PAP’ ventilator mask.
The positive pressure in the mask will help to keep the alveoli in the lungs open, when THIS is connected to a ventilator (while the patient is at a stage of still being able to breath for themselves)
If the patient deteriorates to a point where THIS device is no longer able to maintain sufficient oxygenation, then of course, the next step would be full intubation (an endo-tracheal tube inserted into the trachea)
Hope that clarifies things a bit?

sorry I don’t know what you are saying
Bravo! Nice to hear good news today
Thanks everyone that is trying to make world better place….my question is how do you get oxygen supply? On your video I can’t see…it looks like it is directly into O2 supply? Thanks

I believe it’s connected to the hospital oxygen tubes. Now the project is scaling up https://twitter.com/dgiluz/status/1243534749487988737
It is very good idea
You will have not coinfection
👏👏👏

Buona fortuna e Dio benedisca tutti noi.
How can we hack the mask for protection of our providers who are at risk?
Anesthesia is at risk during intubation. Could we hook them up to an oxygen line during the process of intubation?
Could we hook up nurses to an oxygen tank when they go into a room?
honestly I don’t know. I’d suggest to contact the guys at Isinnova, they tested such kind of application, however it’s a bit hard to work keeping that mask for many hours, it’s a different scenario than simply breathing
