Massimo Banzi call for Makers opens Monday

Tonight Officine Arduino will party to celebrate its first birthdate. It’s been one year that Arduino R&D department moved to Torino (my hometown) and opened up the first Italian FabLab. Since then the local maker community gathered and started to develop new projects and interconnect with the local environment.

Torino is historically an industrial city and still now, there is a great number of small companies and industrial/production skills that are starting to connect with the growing maker movement. It will be very interesting to see how the mix of these two cultures will generate new things.

It was the occasion for Massimo to launch the ‘Call for Makers’ that will be released Monday the 18th.  Details for partecipation will be published on the site and Maker Faire Europe will start to accept submissions. The most interesting 200 projects will be invited to showcase their products in Rome next October.

There were many projects going on at the Lab, the one below being my favourite. Tonight drinks will be served by an Arduino controlled machine! I foresee a lot of drunk geeks tonight at the party.
